The 30 Brazilian artists of Rio Occupation London project, the Brazilian artistic mission that represented Rio de Janeiro under the 2012 Olympic Games.

Where the horizon moves - London is an open-air project exploring landscape as a space where stories come alive.  It rescues the often lost, yet everyday movement, of coming towards a place. Through subtle shifts and changes in the landscape, the audience field of vision is expanded to notice figures that emerge and disappear on the horizon.

This piece was part of the Festival Finale in association with v22 Summer Club at the Biscuit Factory on 1-3 August as part of Rio Occupation London, promoted by SEC-Secretaria de Cultura do Estado do Rio de Janeiro in partnership with Battersea Arts Center & People's Palace, hosted by 2012 London Festival - Cultural Olympiad. Rio Occupation London was sponsored by Petrobras.

Artist Talk at Friday Late Night at V&A, London,

Limber up for FRIDAY LATE, an evening of mass participation and fun and games as the V&A plays host to contemporary artists from Rio.

The event kicks off on Friday 27th July from 6.30-10pm, all places are free and designated on a first come, first served basis, unless stated otherwise. Filming and photography will be taking place at this event.

MUSIC
DJ sets by Joao Brasil and Domenico Lancelotti
João Brasil is a musician, music producer, DJ and artist. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he now lives in London. While greatly influenced by Brazilian sounds, contemporary and otherwise, his music references span European, African and American rhythms. Percussionist Domenico Lancelotti will also be on hand for a unique creative and sonic collaboration.

INSTALLATION
Video installation by Andrea Capella
Inspired by a Felipe Bragança film, immerse yourself in a dark and disturbing phantasmagoria. Not for the faint-hearted, Capella's work exposes the masks, shadows and more sinister impulses at play in Carnival tradition.

WORKSHOPS
Tropical Clusters workshop
"Yes, we have bananas" - so goes a traditional Brazilian Carnival song. Join Breno Pineschi as he plans to occupy London with his Tropical Clusters Project, a territorial conquest of the city using an object charged with meaning: the banana. Create individual fruits and contribute to the banana clusters which will appear around the V&A and across London.

Interactive sound art workshop with Siri
The Brazilian sound artist Siri makes contemporary art by mixing music, performance, installation and video-art. In this interactive lecture, Atabaques, bongôs, agogôs and tablas will be substituted with pans, bottles and springs as Siri presents new ways of understanding different musical cultures and histories. At the end of this interactive performance lecture, Siri will record a piece of music composed and performed by the audience.

Brazilian Art 2012-2016
Join Rio Occupation co-artistic directors Gringo Cardia and Cristiane Jahaty, Director of People’s Palace Projects Paul Heritage and several of Rio de Janeiro’s leading contemporary artists for an illustrated insight into the movements, trends and creative statements shaping Brazilian creative practice today. In conversation with Laura Lima, Gustavo Ciríaco and Bruno Vianna.

SCREENINGS
Filme Brasileiro: cinematic shorts from Rio and Beyond
Rio’s on-screen presence is felt in London with a curated selection of works including the prologue from Eduardo Nunes’ feature film ‘Sudoeste’; Anna Azevedo’s experimental ‘Drežnica’ on Super 8; Luciana Bezerra’s dramatic short ‘Mina de Fé’ and commercial videos from Breno Pineschi.

London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony screening
Watch the Opening Ceremony in the John Madejski Garden and witness the parade of nations and ignition of the Heatherwick-designed Cauldron with the Olympic Flame.

FINALE
Join costume and set design artitsts Eric Fuly and Robson Rozza as they lead a Grand Finale in inimitable Rio style - with a procession of Carnival Puppets and performers through the V&A.
