ONDE O HORIZONTE SE MOVE teve a sua participação confirmada na próxima Bienal de Dança do SESC. Será em setembro na cidade de Campinas, dias 24 e 25. Aqui embaixo um trecho do projeto na sua passagem por Barcelona este ano no Mercat de les Flors.

Onde o horizonte se move | Where the Horizon Moves is a site-specific project where the horizon is treated as a field of shared fiction. Through the selection of a landscape and a place from where the audience can observe it, the project generates its gradual transformation through figures that appear and disappear on the horizon. This piece features neighbours from the Poble-sec district as volunteers and invites the public to witness a process of deceleration: from a vantage point, a plateau, an avenue, a landscape unfolds, a city is revealed. Here, the spectators, as if they were the guardians of the past, travel the horizon to decipher these figures blotted out by the sun, which become people, stories, worlds.

Gustavo Ciríaco is a Brazilian artist based in Rio de Janeiro. He has a strong international presence and has presented his works in Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, and more recently in the Far East. His work combines various artistic disciplines, showing an interest in other knowledge, other fields, other voices; often through people, looking for other ways to cope with everyday life, adding potential, tools and knowledge about how to deal with time and space. He has used choreography, theatre, video, storytelling and urban actions in conversational works where the encounter is the inspiration for fictions and shared situations.

Where the Horizon Moves was included in the official programme of Guimarães – European Capital of Culture 2012 (Sweet & Tender Collaborations, organized by Maus Hábitos) and by the Rio Occupation London artistic mission at the London Cultural Olympiads in 2012. The project was in residence at the Cidade das Artes, programmed at the Panorama Festival (Rio, 2013) and toured with the SESC Arts Circuit, visiting nine cities within the state of São Paulo.

Habitado pelo devir, o horizonte é muitas vezes tomado como anunciador de destinos, como panorama de nosso futuro. Onde se move o horizonte convida o público a uma desaceleração: do alto de um miradouro, do fundo de um descampado, do longe de uma avenida, uma paisagem se descortina, uma cidade se revela. Aqui os espectadores, como os vigias do passado, vasculham o horizonte em busca de decifrar aquelas figuras borradas pelo sol que se tornam pessoas, histórias ou mundos.

Onde o horizonte se move é um projeto site-specific em torno de uma paisagem como campo de ficção compartilhado. A partir da seleção de uma paisagem e de um local de onde vê-la, o projeto investe na sua transformação gradual através de figuras que surgem e desaparecem no horizonte.

ONDE O HORIZONTE SE MOVE

Em Guimarães 2012 , o horizonte movia-se pelas pernas de 20 crianças que apareciam a correr de um vasto campo baldio com uma montanha ao longe. Elas vinham longe, elas iam para longe. Duas gêmeas de 5 anos espelhavam-se, um espelho fazia do verde o ar, um carro atravessava-se a tocar José Mário Branco, mulheres brincavam camufladas às escondidas acompanhadas por um cão saltitante nos campos de felicidade. O fim era o depois, "o depois do adeus" que se afastava de nós, para depois se substituír numa aproximação, numa sublimação de uma voz que está perto e se entrega.

No London 2012 Festival, o horizonte começava num imenso terraço sob os voos altos e velozes dos aviões que raspavam ali tão perto, e lado a lado a uma muita ocupada linha férrea. Ao longe, no horizonte estava tudo o que a retina pode guardar da linha do céu de Londres, e ali por baixo daquele terraço, antes do horizonte azul, a rua de um bairro. O público era mirone de uma hora na vida da rua de um bairro em Londres vizinha de uma enorme fábrica de biscoitos. O quotidiano confundia-se, encontrava-se, e era apanhado na rede fictícia do horizonte. O perto tornava-se mais perto, o homem de camisa rosa que passava as tardes sentado à porta tornava-se personagem, um bulldog virava personagem e os edifícios mais marcantes da cidade viravam pessoas e apareciam no bairro para fazer uma coreografia de grupo. A ficção intervia no quotidiano, e baralhava as hierarquias do comum e do extraordinário. A cidade transformava-se num verdadeiro terreno de encontro de tempos diferentes: daqueles que passam a vida a correr de um lado para o outro na História da vida numa cidade, e os outros, os que correm para dentro de uma história ou de uma miragem de um dia especial qualquer.

No Festival Panorama, o horizonte é a Barra da Tijuca, é uma cidade de carros, é uma via rápida de passagem. O chão é uma ilha no meio do alcatrão- a Cidade das Artes, projeto arquitectónico futurista, megalómono e repleto de recantos.Os espectadores são levados pela mão para vasculhar o horizonte e decifrar as figuras borradas pela distância. Contra-luzes, brilhos, samba-série-caleidoscópica, estranhas coincidências, e uma multidão que ao levar-se, também se carrega com alegria na incerteza dos seus dias tendo a cidade como fundo. No Rio de Janeiro, o horizonte é aquela linha ao longe que cada um pode ler, como quando olha para a mão para desmontar o futuro, sendo que é no PRESENTE, no aqui e no agora, que se desembrulha mais um sublime presente.

Onde o horizonte se move, no Festival Panorama

Onde o horizonte se move é a nova criação do coreógrafo carioca Gustavo Ciriaco, feita especialmente para a Cidade das Artes, dentro do projeto inédito Panorama Carioca na Cidade das Artes.

A peça investiga a paisagem como campo de ficção compartilhado. A partir da seleção de uma paisagem e de um local de onde vê-la, o projeto investe na sua transformação gradual através de figuras que surgem e desaparecem no horizonte.

Para sua estreia no Festival Panorama, em outubro, na Cidade das Artes, o artista busca um grupo de 40 voluntários, habitantes ou frequentadores do entorno da Cidade das Artes, para participar do seu processo de criação e de suas apresentações, juntamente com o grupo de intérpretes profissionais.

Os selecionados recebem ajuda de custos durante os ensaios e apresentações.

Estamos procurando:

5 a 10 crianças e adolescentes entre 7 e 17 anos;

5 a 10 senhoras e senhores acima de 60 anos;

20 adultos entre 18 e 60 anos (interessados em geral, se possível com experiência em teatro ou dança)

Ensaios:

Sábados e domingos, dias 12, 13, 19 e 20 de outubro das 14h às 18h.

Apresentações:

25, 26 e 27 de outubro, à tarde, em horário a confirmar.

YSP is hosting a project, Where the Horizon Moves, led by artist Gustavo Ciríaco, a 3-day workshop on the horizon as a source of fiction and performance, with practices and discussions.

Where the Horizon Moves is part of an open-air performance project on landscapes as a shared fictional field. The workshop aims to promote a vivid discussion on horizon as a theme and its history, through group analysis on the use of landscape in different art formats, visits and practices around a specific landscape.

A landscape gathers men and women, city and nature, history and phantasmagoria. It possesses at the same time something unnamable, sublime and something rather ordinary, fleeting at its apprehension, though generator of endless narratives, biographies and fables.

In the old far western movies, there was often this moment, when something emerged from nowhere, from far away. A reading moment of the landscape, where distant elements became visible as they approached us, little by little, finally becoming Indians, the Seventh Cavalry Regiment or wild bisons. Evanescent figures blurred by the distance and by light, they materialized as soon as our eyes were capable discerning the details, presences and realness. Nowadays, this dimension has been lost. No one arrives from afar.

How does something enter our field of vision? How does it get processed and become the matter of dreams, stories, lives? Which transformations happen to something when seen afar? How forms, colors, textures contribute in this ever changing panorama around us? What does the gradual appearance of something provoke in our perception, in the way it happens and in its successive interpretations?

Influenced by what we manage to see, how far our vision reaches and what comes before our very eyes, the landscape frames the world we see, the world we navigate through. Thinking landscape as a shared fiction, Where the horizon moves charms the audience to experience the horizon as a playful panorama where contemplation and imagination go hand in hand with fable making and daily life sublime.

Through subtle transformations in the landscape Where the horizon moves rescues the poetic, yet ordinary aspect of the basic movement of coming towards a place. Here the spectators, as the watchmen of yesterday, struggle to define what they see in the horizon, these fleeting figures under the sun who become mankind, stories or facts.

The project has been part of the official program led by Maus Hábitos & Guimarães European Cultural Capital (June 2012) and as part of the Rio Occupation London & London Festival 2012, hosted and presented at v22, London, Uk (July 2012). Rio Occupation London was commissioned by Rio de Janeiro's State Culture Secretariat. Executive Produced by People's Palace Projects. Co-produced by Battersea Arts Center.
